Comcast Surprises Miami Kids with New Laptops

A group of children cheer at an Internet Essentials event.

More than one hundred South Florida kids recently got a big surprise from Comcast.

At an Internet Essentials digital inclusion rally at Jose Marti Park in downtown Miami, students who were participating in summer programs with Amigos for Kids and CODeLLA gathered to learn about the importance of internet access and digital literacy from Comcast Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Diversity Officer of Comcast NBCUniversal David L. Cohen.

Earlier that day in Miami, Comcast announced that it was expanding eligibility for its Internet Essentials program to include all low-income households in its service footprint.

As Cohen was wrapping up his remarks, he announced that Comcast was giving each of the more than 100 children gathered there a new laptop and six months of free in-home internet access through Internet Essentials. You can see the shocked and excited reactions of the kids in the video and photo gallery below!
