Comcast recently worked with the Florida Sheriffs Association to create a public service announcement (PSA) to remind Florida drivers about an important law designed to keep first responders and work crew members safe.
The Florida law, commonly known as the “Move Over” law, requires drivers to move over a lane when they safely can for stopped law enforcement, emergency, sanitation, utility service vehicles – like Comcast or Xfinity vehicles – and tow trucks or wreckers. If a driver can’t safely move over or is traveling on a two-lane road, then he or she should slow down to a speed that’s 20 miles per hours less than the posted speed limit or down to 5 miles per house when the posted speed limit is 20 mph or less.
The law was created to help keep first responders and work crews safe and reduce the number of crashes and accidents.
“It’s critical to keep our first responders and now the off-road working community safe from hazardous situations,” said Broward County Lieutenant Valerie Devlin.
To create the PSA, Comcast Florida’s production team worked with local law enforcement agencies to stage a simulation of an accident scene on Stirling Road in Broward County.
The PSA is already airing on select channels throughout Florida. You can watch it below, plus check out the photo gallery of behind the scenes pictures from the video shoot.
