Volunteers Bring Fall Cheer to Jacksonville with Mentorship, Meals and Military Support
As fall finally arrived in Jacksonville, Comcast teammates brought warmth and generosity to the community through three impactful Team UP volunteer events. From inspiring students at Jacksonville Heights Elementary to packing meals for families in need and assembling hundreds of hygiene kits for military members, our volunteers proved that giving back never goes out of season. Team UP isn’t just a moment, it’s a year-round commitment to creating stronger communities, 365 days a year.
Inspiring Students at Jacksonville Heights Elementary
The first event took volunteers to Jacksonville Heights Elementary, where they joined City Year for House Day, an initiative designed to foster leadership and collaboration among students. Comcast volunteers led interactive activities like the Human Coding Game, Balloon Rocket Race, and Bridge Building Contest, engaging 60 students in hands-on learning experiences that encouraged problem-solving and teamwork.

Fighting Hunger in Clay Clounty
Next, the team partnered with Hunger Fight in Clay County for a meal-packing event that addressed food insecurity in the region. Volunteers worked alongside community members to transform raw ingredients into nutritious, ready-to-cook meals for families in need, helping ensure that no one goes hungry.

Supporting Military Families in Greater Jacksonville
Finally, volunteers headed to Naval Air Station Jacksonville to support the USO by packing up 500 hygiene kits for service members and their families. From sorting supplies to moving boxes and assembling kits, the team’s efforts provided essential items to those who serve our country, reinforcing Comcast’s commitment to supporting military communities.

Samuel Waltzer, Government Affairs Director for Northeast Florida, organized these three volunteer opportunities in Jacksonville. He was grateful for the group that came together to support these deserving organizations.
“It’s inspiring to see our employees come together to support causes that matter. Whether it’s helping students, fighting hunger, or supporting our military families, these efforts show the heart of our team and the impact we can make when we work together.”
Comcast and its employees are actively involved in the local communities that they serve. Since 2010, the tech leader has made more than $5 million in cash and in-kind contributions to different non-profit efforts in the Jacksonville area.
