Comcast Grants $1 Million for Digital Skills Training to 45 Local Nonprofits Across Florida in 2025

The technology company’s investment will empower communities by helping shrink the digital divide

Comcast announced today that the company has provided $1 million in grant funding to nonprofit organizations across the state in 2025, reinforcing its commitment to creating opportunities and driving positive change in the communities it proudly serves.

“Our mission goes beyond delivering technology, we’re here to make a lasting impact,” said Kristeen Cominiello, Regional Senior Vice President for Comcast’s Florida Region. “By supporting nonprofits that share our vision for opportunity and progress, together we’re building stronger communities.”

Through these investments, Comcast partnered with 45 organizations focused on digital skills, workforce development and community enrichment, helping Floridians access the tools and resources they need to thrive in an increasingly connected world.

During a recent network expansion celebration in Okeechobee, Fla., Comcast announced a donation of 25 laptops to the Education Foundation of Okeechobee, which connects the community to classrooms, providing resources and opportunities that help students thrive and educators succeed.

“These partnerships reflect our belief that connectivity is the foundation for success,” said Michelle Oyola McGovern, Vice President of Government Affairs for Comcast’s Florida Region. “We’re proud to work alongside and invest in organizations that are transforming lives every day.”

Comcast is proud to provide grants that strengthen relationships with organizations making a difference from new partnerships like Mobile Science Laboratory (MoLab) to long-standing relationships with such organizations as Hands on South Florida and Seniors on a Mission.

The goal of MoLab is to enhance student achievement in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) in a fun, interactive setting. For the last two years, Comcast’s funding has helped MoLab’s GO Higher Drone Training Program empower youth by providing essential digital skills and introducing them to technology career pathways. The program targets two age groups: ages 10–13 explore the connection between STEM education and drone technology, while ages 14–17 receive advanced training in drone flight operations and preparation for FAA Part 107 certification, opening doors to careers in technology and media sectors.

“Comcast’s investment helps us inspire the next generation of innovators,” said Trish A. Hanson, Founder of MoLab. “Through drone technology, we’re showing students that STEM education can lead to exciting, high-demand careers.”

During a festive event hosted by the Overtown Children & Youth Coalition, 100 children received a brand new laptop donated by Comcast to help them learn digital skills and empower their educational pursuits in Overtown, Fla.

For 50 years, Hands on South Florida has been on the frontlines of kindness, mobilizing people to create meaningful impact for Broward and Miami-Dade communities. Comcast has supported HandsOn South Florida through community service projects annual grants for several years, helping expand its Digital Literacy Enrichment Program. This initiative teaches youth essential digital skills and applies them in real-world situations, with the goal of improving economic mobility, introducing participants to technology-driven careers, and equipping them with tools for long-term success.

“With Comcast’s support we’re preparing young people for a future where digital skills are essential,” said Dale Mandell, Chief Executive Officer of HandsOn South Florida. “Together, we’re giving youth the confidence and knowledge to succeed in a technology-driven world.”

Comcast is also a long-time partner of Seniors on a Mission, an organization that envisions a world where seniors are valued, honored, and encouraged to live invigorated lives filled with purpose and grace. Comcast helped expand the Technology Pop-Ups program, a traveling digital skills learning initiative. At the pop-ups, seniors receive one-on-one help with essential tasks such as setting up email accounts, paying bills online, and scheduling telehealth appointments. The program is extremely popular, often operating with a waiting list, and continues to empower older adults to confidently navigate the digital world.

“Our Technology Pop-Ups have become a lifeline for seniors who want to stay connected,” said Joanne Hickox, Founder & Executive Director of Seniors on a Mission. “Comcast’s investment ensures we can meet the growing demand and help more seniors embrace technology.”

Comcast Florida’s philanthropic efforts are part of Project UP, the company’s comprehensive initiative to connect people to the internet, create digital opportunity and build a future of unlimited possibilities. Since its launch, Project UP has invested millions to help close the digital divide and create pathways to success for individuals and communities.
