Comcast Donates Chromebooks to Jefferson County Families

Comcast Partnered with Jefferson County Educational Foundation to Promote Internet Essentials and Affordable Connectivity Program

May 18, 2022 – Nearly a dozen families that attended the recent STEM Family Fun Night at Somerset Academy Jefferson County in Monticello received Chromebooks courtesy of Comcast.

Comcast partnered with the event’s organizer, the Jefferson County Educational Foundation, to spread the word to local parents and families about new affordable options available locally for internet services. Families that participated in the STEM Family Fun Night event were entered into a raffle drawing for the Chromebooks donated by Comcast.

Comcast recently expanded its network to bring the full suite of Xfinity products and services, including high-speed internet, to Monticello for the first time. This expansion is a part of Comcast’s work to bridge the digital divide by bringing broadband Internet service to new and underserved areas.

As a part of its commitment to digital equity, Comcast is also offering its Internet Essentials program to qualified households in its service area in Monticello. Internet Essentials provides in-home internet access for $9.95 for qualified households, plus multiple options to access online digital literacy and skills training. Qualified households may be eligible to have the cost of their monthly home Internet service paid for through the Federal Communication Commission’s (FCC) Affordability Connectivity Program (ACP).
