Comcast Donates Laptops to Help with Digital Literacy Training for South Florida Seniors

Comcast donates laptops to the South Florida Institute on Aging

As part of its commitment to creating a future of unlimited possibilities, Comcast recently donated ten laptops to the South Florida Institute on Aging (SoFIA), a nonprofit focused on providing equitable and quality life services to the aging community and their families in South Florida.

The laptops will enable volunteers to assist older adults in learning how to use the Internet to stay connected. This is part of SoFIA’s Tech Services Program, which is designed to strengthen the social and economic well-being of older adults by teaching them computer skills they can use in their everyday lives.

Comcast has been a long-time advocate for advancing digital equity. Since its launch in 2011, Internet Essentials, the company’s signature digital equity offering, has connected more than 10 million Americans to affordable broadband service at home.

Comcast’s partnership with SoFIA is part of Project UP, the company’s $1 billion commitment to bridging the digital divide for tens of millions of people over the next 10 years. This includes connecting people to the Internet, advancing economic mobility and increasing digital literacy.

It is more important now than ever to ensure everyone has access to the resources and skills needed to navigate an increasingly digital world. To learn more about how Comcast is promoting digital literacy, visit corporate.comcast.com/impact/project-up.
