Comcast employees recently helped construct new homes for veterans at the Habitat for Humanity of Greater Palm Beach County’s annual Veterans Build. This event makes affordable homeownership a possibility for the veteran community through home construction and renovation. This is part of Habitat for Humanity’s mission to create a world where everyone has a safe place to live.
Comcast also donated 25 laptops to Habitat for Humanity that will be placed in new homes built by the organization. In alignment with its mission to bridge the digital divide in Palm Beach County, Comcast will assist homeowners with signing up for the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) and Internet Essentials, the company’s signature digital equity offering that grants qualifying households access to high-speed broadband service for $9.99 a month.
Comcast has a longstanding commitment to advancing digital equity in the communities it serves. Since its launch in 2011, Internet Essentials has connected more than 10 million people from low-income households to home Internet.
Additionally, in 2022, Comcast reaffirmed its dedication to bridging the digital divide by pledging $1 billion over the next 10 years to the cause through its Project UP initiative. This pledge includes not only connecting people to the Internet, but also promoting digital literacy and overall access to technology.
