The picturesque greens at TPC Sawgrass provided a breathtaking backdrop for a very special event at THE PLAYERS Championship. In celebration of the tournament’s kick off on Tuesday, Comcast Business invited longtime partner Five Star Veterans Center to the golf course for a surprise – a $25,000 investment and 30 laptops for their technology center. 👏
The nonprofit organization helps displaced veterans secure safe housing and access vital resources so they can successfully live on their own. Comcast Business and THE PLAYERS selected Five Star Veterans Center for this year’s charity of the day. With impeccable weather and enthusiasm in the air, you could feel the appreciation for our nation’s heroes.
Take a look at the moment Comcast Florida’s VP of Government Affairs, Michelle Oyola McGovern, made the announcement and why it means so much. 👇
Mike Hightower is the Five Star Veterans Center Chairman. He said the organization’s work, assisting veterans in getting back on their feet and reentering the workforce, is more important than ever.

Because of their service and the challenges that they came home with, we provide a wraparound service including counseling and mental health,” said Hightower. “Our job is to get veterans back on their feet and back into the community. We thank Comcast for allowing us to do that.”
He said Comcast’s investment will not only facilitate Internet access and overall connectivity, but it will also allow them to fund crucial programs so they can continue in their mission to care for our veterans.
Jeff Buzzelli is is the Senior Vice President for Comcast’s Florida Region. He expressed his sincere expression to Five Star Veterans for their life-changing work. Buzzelli said investing in trust nonprofit partners is important for the company.
“Five Star Veterans is a great organization that we’ve partnered with for many years,” said Buzzelli. “We’re excited about expanding our relationship. What a great venue to all be out here today. We’re super pumped as Comcast employees for THE PLAYERS Championship.”
