Comcast Launches Innovative Pilot Program to Keep Miami Beach Beautiful and Connected to Ultra-Fast Internet

Miami Beach Mayor Steven Meiner recently met with Comcast Florida leaders to discuss the company’s pilot project in the city. As part of the new initiative, the tech leader’s construction crews installed telecommunications lines underground in two locations. They did so with one goal in mind. Make it easier than ever for businesses and communities to connect to Comcast Business and Xfinity services.

“Residents and businesses now have access to a turnkey solution that’s faster and more reliable than ever before,” said Steven Meiner, Miami Beach Mayor. “This is more than just an upgrade; it’s a premier infrastructure investment that strengthens our city’s digital backbone. I am proud of this partnership and what it means for Miami Beach – enhanced connectivity, greater resiliency, and a cleaner more beautiful city for all.”

During the initial phase, Comcast crews placed brand-new fiber lines beneath alleyways, at Ocean Court and Collins Court near 8th Street. The team also installed access points, so technicians can easily tap into the fiber lines — without the need to tear up the street in the future. This new infrastructure will help reduce and speed up installation times for Comcast Business and Xfinity customers. The investment hopes to beautify parts of Miami Beach by removing any visual clutter. It also provides additional safeguards for Comcast’s network, to help reduce any service interruptions.
Mayor Meiner spoke with Comcast’s Regional Senior Vice President Jeff Buzzelli, his team and Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce President Brittnie Bassant about the project. Meiner expressed his gratitude for the company’s commitment to keep Miami Beach both beautiful and better connected. Given the pilot program’s initial success, crews will expand their work to four more locations.

The construction represents a significant financial investment from Comcast. The ongoing work gives Miami Beach residents another option for their internet service provider, allowing them access to a next-generation network that keeps them connected to the moments that matter most.
“Seeing this project come to life is incredibly rewarding,” said Rob Arce, Construction Director for Comcast. “From the very beginning, our goal was to build a network that’s not only resilient, but respects Miami Beach’s unique charm. The success of this pilot shows what’s possible and we hope to expand it in the coming months. Once we’re finished, we’re confident both residents and businesses will benefit from faster installations and fewer service interruptions.”
