Operations update for South Florida

The Comcast logo on a glass door.

While we still have a number of our facilities operating on generators, we are tracking closely with power coming back on. As people are getting their power restored, we are seeing our Xfinity services coming back online in those specific areas as well.

In the past 24 hours we have restored Xfinity services to another nearly 70,000 people in South Florida.   The Keys is still an area that is not yet accessible to our crews but we have been able to restore some services into Key Largo.  Once we can gain access to the Keys, we have barges and crews ready to go in and help.

In areas in South Florida where power is not yet restored, Xfinity services won’t be able to function.  In terms of timing of restoration, our teams have been able to bring back service quickly as residential power comes back on.  In some cases people may need to reboot their devices on their own once power is restored.

We are seeing pocket outages in places where power is back but our local plant sustained some damage in that area.  But we are working on these and have been able to repair more than 5,000 downed drops – the line connection from the pole to the home.

Today we have Comcast crews from Michigan and Indiana that are now deployed in Miami-Dade to help our local Florida teams with the restoration efforts.

We will continue to work day and night until all services are stored to our South Florida customers.
