Comcast Partners with Visit Lauderdale to Bridge the Digital Divide

As a part of the commitment to bridge the digital divide in South Florida, Comcast recently sponsored one of the area’s premier STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) events, the Visit Lauderdale Science Festival. The theme for this year’s event was “Science is Fun…For Everyone Under the Sun!”

At the company’s event booth, information was available on all aspects of Comcast’s digital inclusion efforts, including Internet Essentials, and the company’s participation in the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP). Team members also raffled off laptop computers to festival attendees that visited the Comcast booth.

The festival took place March 3 & 4 at the Museum of Discovery and Science (MODS) and Esplanade Park in the downtown Arts & Entertainment District in Fort Lauderdale.

Comcast has been at the forefront of addressing digital equity over the past ten years. Since launching its digital equity program, Internet Essentials, in 2011, Comcast has connected more than 10 million Americans to affordable broadband service at home.

In 2022, Comcast unveiled its Project UP initiative and re-affirmed its commitment by pledging $1 billion over the next ten years to advance digital equity and help build a future of unlimited possibilities.

This will include not only getting people connected to the internet, but also working to make sure everyone has the resources and skills needed to succeed in our increasingly digital world. For more information on Project UP, visit corporate.comcast.com/impact/project-up.
