A New Day for Arcadia, High-Speed Internet Now Available Across the City

Xfinity working on Arcadia network expansion

If you drive past orange groves and deep into DeSoto County, you’ll find a city rich in history. Arcadia sits at the crossroads of US 17 and State Road 70 in Southwest Florida. For the longest time, the beautiful city – famous for its downtown antique district – lacked reliable, high-speed Internet. The wait is now over. Better and faster Internet is here. It’s a new day in Arcadia. 👏

Following months of construction, Xfinity is now online in the city of Arcadia and some surrounding areas including Nocatee and Lake Suzy. More than 10,000 homes and businesses now have access to Xfinity and Comcast Business services. Comcast announced last year the company’s commitment to build a next-generation network in the heart of DeSoto County.

To celebrate this major milestone, Xfinity on Tour swung by the DeSoto County Fair February 210. DeSoto County residents learned how Xfinity can keep them and their family connected and entered to win an exciting prize!

Comcast, a technology leader, is committed to supporting the communities it serves and does business. Let’s look back at some of our recent visits to Arcadia hear from residents on why they’re excited to use Xfinity. 👇

Xfinity on Tour

We brought Xfinity on Tour to DeSoto County last summer with events at DeSoto County High School and Walmart to get residents ready and signed up for service. Community members said they were excited to hear that Comcast was bringing its award-winning services to town.

“As a principal and just an educator in general, you don’t ever want to see your students or faculty not be able to accomplish everything they can because of [lack of] Internet,” said Joshua White, Principal of DeSoto County High School. “Comcast as a corporate partner bringing broadband to the community is going to have a huge impact on the academics of our students.”

“Arcadia, up until recently, hasn’t had a whole lot of high-speed internet,” said Derek T., Sr. Account Executive, Comcast Business. “It’s important for Comcast to be in Arcadia because having that high speed is game-changing.”

Comcast Business Meet & Greet

In December, we invited the community to enjoy some local BBQ, meet their local reps, and learn how they can get fast, reliable services from Xfinity and Comcast Business.

We also donated laptops to Catholic Charities to help even more DeSoto County residents take advantage of our network.
