Sailors at the Naval Support Activity (NSA) in Panama City, Florida were treated to a memorable lunch this week, thanks to a heartfelt collaboration between Comcast and the Outdoor Channel. In a show of appreciation, volunteers came together to serve a special meal of venison tacos to hundreds of service members stationed at the installation. This event was part of the Hunt. Fish. Feed. program, which creatively taps into an often-overlooked food source to give back to communities nationwide.
The success of this event was powered by Comcast’s Team UP employee volunteer program. Sixteen dedicated volunteers, including Austin White, joined forces with Paul Comes, a renowned wild game chef, in preparing and serving the meals. White, a local lead retail sales consultant for Comcast, shared that this Hunt. Fish. Feed. event was his first experience with Team UP. Motivated by a personal connection to the Armed Forces, White found the opportunity to give back particularly meaningful.
“Both of my grandparents served in the military, and the sacrifices they made have always been a source of inspiration for me. Volunteering at this event was my way of honoring their legacy,” White said. “I’m grateful that Comcast brought this event to my community. Providing these service members with a moment of comfort and appreciation was both fulfilling and humbling.”
Paul Comes, who retired from Comcast and now leads the Hunt. Fish. Feed. initiative, has helped the program serve over 38,000 meals across the United States.
Comcast’s commitment to the military community runs deep and is an integral part of the company’s DNA. Mona Dexter, Comcast’s Vice President of Military and Veteran Affairs, also participated in the Team UP event and met with NSA leadership to discuss future partnership opportunities in the Panama City area.
“At Comcast, we recognize the immense sacrifices made by our service members and their families. Events like this provide us with the opportunity to express our gratitude in a meaningful way. We’re committed to continuing to support the military community’s quality of life, not just through initiatives like Team UP, but by forging lasting partnerships that can make a real difference,” said Dexter.
