Comcast: Invested in Miami-Dade County
As Florida’s technology leader, Comcast’s presence in the Sunshine State spans from Key West through the Panhandle. The company’s commitment to the community is deep and can be traced back for decades. With the goal of creating unlimited possibilities for all, Comcast continues to connect Floridians to opportunity by investing in nonprofit organizations, trusted partners and new technologies.
Take the Miami-Dade County for example. Marta Casas-Celaya, Government & Regulatory Affairs Director, helps oversee the company’s outreach efforts in the area. She said Comcast’s investment in Miami-Dade County is extremely important for the future of its communities and the customers we serve.
“It’s my pleasure to represent and contribute to the Mami-Dade community on behalf of Comcast and collaborate with a broad and effective network of wonderful partners in fields that include social services, workforce development, education, government, and technology,” said Casas-Celaya. “I am especially proud that our company has led the way in helping to narrow the digital divide and that Comcast employees have taken an active interest in this mission as well. Comcast is aligned with the priorities of this dynamic and diverse community, and together, we’re committed to helping all residents prosper and achieve their maximum potential.
Casas-Celaya said consider this when thinking about Comcast’s impact in Miami-Dade County. Of over 32,000 statewide employees, more than 735 call Miami-Dade home. Comcast’s state-of-the-art network includes more than 19,600 miles of lines. It powers more than 452,000 Xfinity WiFi hotspots and provides an Internet connection with 99.9% reliability.
Since 2010, Comcast has contributed over $36 million in cash and in-kind donations to different non-profits, community events, sponsorships and other initiatives. Additionally, the company has connected more than 647,000 low-income residents since 2011 through its Internet Essentials program.
