Carrie’s Story – Finding Purpose at Comcast
Before she joined Comcast four months ago, new hire Carrie Martin had a job, but not one she felt she could grow and develop in. She wanted something more.
During her search, she was constantly discouraged by low pay and companies that wouldn’t give her a chance without experience. She tried other jobs, but at the end of each day she knew they weren’t the right fit.
That is when she came across a listing at Comcast.
She got through the hiring process smoothly until days before her start date, when she hurt her ankle. After healing up, Martin finally made it into the office. She shook her manager’s hand. “He said ‘I’m so glad to finally meet you!’ And I felt like it was home,” Martin said.

Martin is a true people person who loves to help others and make their lives better. She says that working at Comcast allows her to do just that.
“Sometimes it’s the simplest things that can make someone have a great day or a better day. I recently serviced an elderly customer’s home, just to reconnect her TV so that her cable would work,” said Martin. “She was so incredibly thankful. Instances like that are what make me proud to say I work for Comcast.”
Martin also loves to laugh and engage with her coworkers. She started a recent series on an internal company social channel with her cable-created companion, RG6, who is climbing the ranks at Comcast in his own regard. Each day, Martin posts what RG6 is up to. He has gained so much traction that her series is being recognized across the company.

Martin shared how much pride she has working for a company like Comcast.
“The moment I realized how big Comcast really was, this feeling came over me that I was part of something bigger,” Martin said. “Working at Comcast isn’t just a job, it’s a career.”
